Please join us for a tour of three valley farm pastures featuring quality Angus cattle:
Oakdale Angus is owned by Dean and Catherine Manning in Falmouth. The Mannings have a commercial beef herd of approximately 90 breeding females, 25 of which are registered Red Angus females. They have approximately 350 acres of pasture and forage land and due to their suburban community and a golf course bordering the farm, they have had to be efficient and creative in managing pastures to utilize the land base effectively.
Burgess Farms is owned by Tina Burgess and her family in Upper Burlington. Tina is the third generation to manage the farm. Tina looks forward to sharing her views on her rotational grazing and how it has impacted the herd. Burgess Farms has approximately 15 breeding females that are primarily Red Angus based.
Ellsmere Farms Ltd. is owned and operated in Canning by James Ells and his mother Pat. It is a 7th generation farm where they run 85 cow calf pairs on 400 acres of pasture and forage land. Ellsmere is a very heavy Black Angus influenced herd with about 15 animals currently registered. James looks forward to discussing his grazing and breeding programs on the tour.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. at Mannings Family Farm at 50 Oakdale Lane in Falmouth. Lunch and transportation from the starting farm will be provided. Cost is $15/ adult or $10 youth (18 and under). All beef and pasture enthusiasts are welcome! Pre-registration is required for a meal and a seat on the bus.
